It's hard to believe that we celebrated Schuyler's one-month birthday last week In honor of the occassion, I made a carrot cake from scratch! I was quite a sight that morning with my hair resembling some sort of bird's nest and my robe covered in baby spit and flour The cake was a little dry, but decent especially considering the cooking circumstances, ie barking dog, crying baby, sleep-deprived mom I have actually been on quite the sweets kick these past few weeks Something about having baby girl has made me want to bake I also made a berry cobbler in the crock pot and lemon bars for Easter (The berry cobbler recipe is from Paula Deen and you all must try it - so yummy and easy! The recipe is on the Food Network website Search for slow cooker cobbler)
Schuyler's one month check up went really well She weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces ounces and was 19 and a quarter inches long The only issue was that her jaundice level had actually risen from the last visit Poor girl had to have blood taken out of her little arm so they could run a battery of tests Thankfully, all the tests came back fine The final determination was that she has breast milk induced jaundice After a 72-hour period of only formula, her level dropped way down The other good news is that she took to the bottle really well Hopefully, she won't have too much of a problem going back to breastfeeding full-time
Finally, she celebrated her First Easter on Sunday She had a basket filled with a little rattle and a chocolate bunny which her father stole from her! And, we continued the Anthony Family tradition of hiding treat stuffed, plastic Easter eggs for Dixie to find That trick just never gets old!
